Tribulation - The Children of the Night
This is definitely the best album of the first half of the year for me. I honestly wasn't prepared to such a huge shift towards classic metal with a certain psychodelic touch from these guys, even though I had a chance to listen to couple of tracks live before it was released. Not that much left here from that blackened death metal the band played on their previous effort, which I think was absolutely awesome, except harsh vocals and overall dark atmosphere, though overall their style is still recognizable. I'm at loss to say what attracts me more in this album, is it guitar work, dark/gothic atmosphere created by keyboards or emotional vocals, but their blend is captivating.

Such a drastic change from Augur. A couple of the songs are brilliant but none of the other tracks really grabbed my attention.

I think it may partly be the jarring departure in sound that made it stick in my head Wink I haven't fully digested the album yet. It being in this list is based on an overall impression of it literally standing out from the long lines of mediocre heard-all-this-befores one has to wade through.

Can only conclude Morbid that different countries got different release dates!

On the back sleeve of mine it reads at the bottom, below track listing the following: Composed, performed and engineered by John Carpenter, Cody Carpenter and Daniel Davies.

It's too late at night for an extensive search. As far as a casual Google can tell, it was released February 2015. That's good enough for me.

Perhaps the CDs were pressed at the end of 2014 and it was decided to postpone the release. I don't know or care. I'm keeping it in the list. It's too good not to.

You can keep it on your list, but as my copy says 2014, I cant add it to mine! I wish albums would come out the same year in all countries, it would make best of lists easier to keep in check Smile

Checking this out now. Glad they kept the creepy atmosphere aspect on this recording. It's pretty much the reason why i dig the last two.

Are we doing this thing like we did on snmr or will we add our own spin on listing our best of list?

Some concerns in more detail would be number of albums, genre dictation and wether or not singles and ep's can get thrown into said lists.
